3 Principles to Create Lasting Change

The new year has arrived and with that comes an opportunity to set intentions for the months ahead, and for many people that includes intentions for their health. If you are wondering how you can reach your health goals, then this week we share 3 principles that can assist in accelerating progress and enable you to achieve long-lasting change. We will be sharing examples relating to the journey with chiropractic care, but it can be applied to any aspect of your life. Here are 3 principles to get results faster and make lasting change in 2023 and beyond: Principle 1. Time Progress in any area of life requires time, and that certainly applies when it comes to health and healing. We understand how frustrating it can be, especially if you are in pain or unable to do the things you love due to a health concern, but if you understand that often when it comes to health it has taken time for the issue to start, it can take just as long for it to resolve. The good news is that your body is intelligent and strives to be well with the right input, which is where Principles 2 and 3 come in. Principle 2. Teamwork Embarking on a new health journey can be scary especially when it involves putting your trust in someone else, however it may be the best thing you do to create the change you desire. Going into the process with an open mind and understanding that teamwork is required will also help. As Chiropractors we of course provide hands on care to help your body function better, but what happens following your appointment is also key in the healing process. For example, if we offer guidance with specific exercises or stretches and you commit to those in your own time, it will help to accelerate your progress. The same goes for taking on board any lifestyle changes we offer in the practice and through our blogs, such as keeping mobile and hydrated. They all accumulate over time and provide the right input we shared within Principle 1 that helps your body move towards better health. Principle 3. Consistency It would be wonderful if we could take one exercise class and see instant results following, whether that be increased fitness or weight loss, but sadly that is not realistic, and the same goes for health and healing. A single Chiropractic adjustment is unlikely going to resolve back pain that has been building up over 10 years, which is why we set out a clear plan at the start and encourage consistency with visits and self-care, as previously discussed within Principle 2. Consistency is not only key in reaching the goal you desire, but if you continue beyond the goal it helps to create that lasting change.
