Moving towards better health can be such a rewarding process, as health is one of the most valuable assets of our lives. Without it, it can make the things that bring joy in life difficult. As rewarding as the journey can be, it can also bring moments of frustration and times when you may wonder if it’s worth it. Have you experienced those ups and downs yourself? Or maybe you’re in the thick of it now? If you are, we can assure you that you’re not alone and that your feelings are normal. Because life is not linear, and when we strive for more, there will always be little side steps and friction experienced along the way.
So, wherever you are on your health journey, we wanted to share some encouragement and reassurance this week, especially if you find the process difficult. And it can apply to any aspect of health. It could be the ups and downs experienced with your chiropractic journey, achieving your fitness goals, moving forward with weight loss, or finding consistency with your nutrition.
Here are a few things to remember…
Health is a journey, not a destination This saying may sound cliché, but it really is true. Maintaining good health is not a one-time event. There will be those ups and downs along the way that we have already mentioned, however, it is important to remember that every small step you make towards better health is a step in the right direction.
Be flexible If you are struggling for motivation today and feel like throwing in the towel, could you do one thing today that will move your health forward? So often, we have a big list of the tasks we want to do each day, but on the tough days this list can make us not want to do anything at all. Which is why being flexible and doing something is better than nothing. It could be attending your chiropractic visit, going out for your daily walk, or taking some time to focus on your breathing; whatever it is you are working towards, on the days that feel tough, choose one thing, and build on it.
Asking for help is a strength Having a support system can be helpful, especially on difficult days. Confiding in those around you can help you stay on track and provide accountability and motivation when you want to stop. Whether it’s finding a workout buddy, speaking to a friend or family member, or working with a healthcare provider like us to support you on your journey, don’t forget that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
Focus on your why We all want better health, but sometimes we get caught up in the 'what' and forget the 'why'. So why do you want to stay on track with your health? It could be that your chiropractic visits help you to remain mobile and pain-free so that you can play with your children, or your nutrition and fitness plan is helping you move towards being able to wear your favourite outfit; we all have our reasons for doing something, and by keeping this at the forefront of your mind will provide that well-needed motivation.
So, keep moving forward, no matter how big or small your steps may be to support your health. And always remember that we are here to help and support you on your journey, so if you need any assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re in this together!
